Exercises for PINK

With the following exercises we target three fields of image segmentation:

  1. The studies holding on some changes which are quantified by measurements (e.g. “lung”, where we draw comparison between granulometric histograms of a healthy and a silicotic lungs).

  2. The studies where some very specific objects are characterized, and then extracted without interest in the rest of the content (e.g. “retina” where one focuses on the micro-aneurisms only).

  3. The studies where the whole space is segmented into zones of interest (e.g. “relief”, where we are looking for the catchment basins of the rivers).

In this article, we call extraction the partial segmentations of the second type, and segmentation the third one. In some cases the distinction is not sharp. For example, if a morphological filter is connected (it fits with some connection), then it also fits with the associated connective segmentation. In particular, any hierarchy of flat connected ASF induces a hierarchy of connective segmentations w.r. to their flat zones. Is such an approach we can not sharply distinguish between filtering and segmentation.

Therefore the classification adopted below lies on the basic properties of the operators and not on their original purpose. In a first approximation the increasing operations lead to filtering and the non increasing ones to segmentation. The tutorials are composed as follows:

JS-TP1: Demonstrates the distance function (seals);

JS-TP2: Contains opening and granulometry, followed by the line of the increasing and idempotent operators, i.e. of morphological filters (retina, lung)

JS-TP3: Introduces connection constraints in morphological filtering (wheel, license, fifre)

JS-TP4: Illustrates the watershed procedure (electrophoresis, rice, relief,cervix)

JS-TP5: Presents two cases of connective segmentation (join, concrete)

Hello. I see that you don't update your blog too often. I know that writing articles is time consuming and boring.

But did you know that there is a tool that allows you
to create new articles using existing content (from article directories or other blogs from
your niche)? And it does it very well. The new posts are high
quality and pass the copyscape test. Search in google and try:
